Tour Overview
Sri Lanka is not a step-free country, and we will not pretend otherwise. Pavements are uneven, many temples have stepped approaches and accessible bathrooms are the exception rather than the rule. What we can do is route around the worst of it: a ramp-equipped van with a tail lift, hotels we check for door widths and roll-in showers before we quote them, and sites chosen because they genuinely work from a chair.
This eight-day route concentrates on what is accessible and good rather than trying to cover the whole island. Polonnaruwa is flat and can be seen almost entirely from the vehicle. A jeep safari is possible with a transfer board and a companion. Peradeniya’s botanic gardens are level and paved. And the tour finishes on the west coast at a beach hotel with a roll-in shower and beach-wheelchair access to the sand. Before you book, we will send you an honest written access note for every hotel and every site on the itinerary.
